Purpose: The West Virginia Healthy Habits Schools Competition pits schools against one another in showcasing their innovative approaches to promoting health and wellness. By highlighting these efforts, the initiative aims to inspire other schools and promote improved health outcomes across the state.

How to apply:
Participating schools are asked to submit a two-minute video showcasing a creative effort to improve wellness within their school or community through an electronic form link provided by the West Virginia Department of Education. The entry form link will be available in late August in time for the start of the 2024-2025 school year. Entries can be accompanied by a written summary of the school’s efforts.
Judging criteria will focus on creativity and commitment to promoting health in schools. The panel of judges will include representatives from the West Virginia Department of Health, Department of Education and AETNA Better Health of West Virginia.
The contest is open to all elementary schools in West Virginia.
How the prize money will be used:
The cash awards, provided by Aetna Better Health of West Virginia, can be used by winning schools to further support health initiatives, such as purchasing sports equipment and enhancing playground facilities.
