The Harris-Waltz campaign has no plans to use an AI-generated version of Donald Trump as a surrogate for the former president during debate preparations, a spokesperson told Semaphore.
Why did I ask? Sheila Frenkel of the New York Times reported on the Hard Fork podcast that an anonymous tech company had proposed to the Biden campaign that they create an AI-made version of Donald Trump as a sparring partner. That didn't happen, but that was Biden. Now, a young new candidate has emerged from the Bay Area, promising in his convention speech to “lead the world into the future with space and artificial intelligence.” I thought this was worth checking out.
The Harris campaign did not directly respond to a question about whether it had received a similar proposal to develop an AI for Trump, but said it is not currently using one.
“Currently, only productivity tools, such as data analysis and industry-standard coding assistants, are approved for use in generative AI campaigns,” Mia Ehrenberg, a spokesperson for Harris-Waltz, said in a statement to Semaphore.
