If you ask politicians what year it will be, many will answer: an election year. The presidential campaign will undoubtedly dominate political reality in the coming months, and perhaps beyond. We learned the first chords during the election campaign. At the same time, questions arise whether PiS will change its candidate.
Professor Antony Dudek, a historian and former member of the Council of the Institute of National Remembrance, has this to say about the Law and Justice presidential candidate.
– According to him, I know more about this man because I had contact with the National Memorial Institute, where he started his work. (…) This is an extremely dangerous person, which I say as someone who has been observing Polish politics for more than 30 years. He is one of the most dangerous people to appear in the public sphere of Poland. And I say this with full confidence and responsibility, – emphasizes prof. Antony Dudek, historian and former member of the Council of the Institute of National Remembrance.

Antoni Dudek is often critical of Donald Tusk and the ruling coalition, but when it comes to the PiS candidate, he is even harsher than Civil Alliance politicians.
– If we observe his past, his connections and friends, it raises many questions about how he would have behaved if he had won these elections by chance, – explains Bartos Arlukovic, a representative of the Civil Alliance.
TVN “Fact” asked the head of this staff, Karol Nawrocki. When this material was prepared, he did not react.
Rival Karol Navroki presented a New Year’s message, which can be called a summary of the program. He spoke about the plans for the reconstruction of the society in general and about the defense budget plans in particular.
– I would like this budget to be even higher in 2026, to reach five percent of the gross domestic product allocated to the military. I am sure that we will reach an agreement on this issue beyond political differences, said Rafal Trzaskovsky, candidate of the civil coalition for the presidency.

Will PiS change its candidate?
In his web speech – one of his last – Karol Nawrocki talked about history, the Greater Poland Uprising and Ignacy Paderewski. “Glory to this great musician and artist, the father of Polish independence,” said the candidate of law and justice in the recording. The slip of the tongue, not in real life, but in the recorded speech, described and edited, reflects not only on the candidate, but also on his staff, so there is still informal speculation and fear in PiS whether the candidate should to be replaced.
– It is not about changing the candidate. I know that many are speculating, but I said from the beginning that there will be no changes in the candidate, assures Zbigniew Bogucki, Member of Parliament for Law and Justice.
Andrzej Duda talked about the presidential election in his New Year message, but did not directly support any candidate. He criticized the government very directly. – The main focus was on deepening the differences and strengthening the differences. This led to chaos in the justice system and legal insecurity for Poles, thus weakening Polish democracy, the president emphasized in his speech.
In turn, at the last meeting of the government in 2024, the prime minister indicated the end of the presidential term.
– During the first six months, we will shoulder our responsibility for Europe on our shoulders, on the shoulders of Poland. Currently, the presidential election campaign is taking place in Poland. We are still stuck in this legal system at least until July. That’s what I said, but we will manage it, assured Donald Tusk.

The disorder in the Polish justice system was started by Andrzej Duda, who at the beginning of his presidency did not swear in three legally elected judges of the Constitutional Court. His term of office will end this year.
