If we put it simply, the story goes like this – two brothers are not in touch, one of them drives drunk and puts the burden on his brother, which he does not know about. The police will not check any documents and the innocent driver will lose his driving license. On Monday, the court tried to solve this case with the help of TVN “Fakti” reporter.
A truck driver can't be wrongfully accused and then convicted of drunk driving due to mistakes by police officers to be acquitted. – Now there is not even a country made of cardboard, but made of wet cardboard. There is no other way to call for it, says the accused Mr. Mariusz Grazulis.
The court revoked Mr. Mariusz's driver's license for four years for driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident is said to have happened in April 2022 in Luzina near Wejerovo in Pomerania on a day when Mr Mariusz was at his home in Suwalki – more than 400 kilometers away. – It was my brother who stopped me in front of the store and gave me my details, – explains Mr. Mariusz.

During the investigation, Mr. Marius' brother blew more than two permils and introduced himself to him. He explained that he does not have an identity card. Also, during the interrogation at the police station, the police took the name of a drunk man.
– At the same time, these data were also partly shared data, because the details of parents, names – everything matched – explains Asp. personnel. Anetta Potrikus from the Vejerovo district police office.

Mr. Marius found out about the conviction a year and a half later by accident during a traffic stop. – He was deprived of any means of livelihood, because he could not work when he did not have the qualification of a professional driver, – says lawyer Agnieszka Soltys.
The police officers who trusted Mr. Mariusz's drunken brother were punished – These were disciplinary conversations that resulted in personal cases and the other consequence is not being able to receive a reward for a month, – says Asp. personnel. Anetta Potrikus.

Mr. Mariusz's sentence was overturned, but a new trial was opened to acquit him. But today, instead of participating in the trial, he was standing in line for trucks at the Lithuanian-Polish border, because he did not receive an invitation. The court sends them to the false address provided by the brother.
The court received the driver's contact information from a TVN “Fakti” reporter. He also learned from him that Mr. Mariusz's brother is already in prison. There is still a long way to go to acquittal, and then it can be expected that the driver will sue the state for compensation.
