Executive Director of German Social Democrats (SPD) Matthias Meierch said his party suffered a “historic defeat” in Sunday’s election.
After closing election facilities, Social Democrats won 16%, according to an exit poll published by ARD Public Television. It’s a vote, and this is the worst SPD result in Germany’s postwar history. 25.7% voted in the election before the SPD. Voters.
The SPD has ruled in Germany, along with Green and FDP since 2021. After the FDP left the government, the three-person party coalition dissolved in early November.
Another SPD politician, current German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz, also robbed the floor at the outcome of his party. “This is a bitter outcome and an election defeat,” he admitted.
