The ultimate around-the-world cruise has officially come to an end after nearly nine months at sea, and one famous passenger has mixed feelings about it.
The cruise ship passenger, known as drjennytravels, has garnered a loyal following by sharing details of her incredible (and lengthy) voyages. She went viral after sharing details of her arduous voyage through a stormy Drake Passage to Antarctica in January, as well as the time in May when the ship encountered “horrific” fog that forced it to cancel a port visit.
In a TikTok shared on Aug. 10, Dr. Jenny began counting down the final month of her cruise aboard Serenade of the Seas, expressing her sadness that the months-long journey was soon coming to an end.
“Today marks one month left of my nine-month around the world cruise and I have mixed emotions,” she said in the video. “Long-term, I feel sad, anxious and scared that this adventure is going to end, but on the other hand, I still have one month left of the cruise.”
She added that she was looking forward to having friends join her for part of the trip from Copenhagen to Amsterdam last month.
In February, when a Royal Caribbean cruise was forced to make major changes to its itinerary due to unrest in the Middle East, the TikTok user kept her followers updated.
At the time, the cruise line confirmed to People magazine that it would be cancelling the original itinerary for the nine-month voyage through the Red Sea and Suez Canal in May to keep passengers and crew safe. Cruise passengers have since been offered two alternative itineraries, which Dr Jenny explained in another TikTok.
“We're going to Dubai, we're going to Africa, we're going all the way around the tip of South Africa,” she said. “The itinerary hasn't been decided yet. We actually have two options. One is what we call the 'scenic route', which will take us around more of Africa, and the other is what we call the 'highway', which will have more days at sea and less days in Africa.”
She also shared footage of a cruise town hall meeting, explaining that cruise passengers could vote for what type of route they wanted to see – ultimately, the “scenic route” was chosen, allowing cruise passengers to visit more parts of Africa.
