429 members of parliament participated in the vote. 225 people voted against the bill to amend the Arms and Ammunition Act by a show of hands. These are 174 politicians from PiS, Michał Kołodziejczak from the Civic Union, left-wing lawmaker Tadeusz Tomaszewski, 29 politicians from the PSL, 16 representatives from the federation, and four members from the Liberal Republican group.
A total of 203 parliamentarians opposed the bill, including 148 members from Citizens United, 31 from Poland 2050, 18 from the Left, five from the Razem Party, and one independent.
The project, submitted by Poland 2050, would require regular medical and psychological examinations of those with permits to possess weapons for hunting purposes to ensure that they meet the health standards relevant to weapon possession. It was envisaged that this would increase the frequency of people’s biennial testing. Over 70 years old.
Hunter research. This amendment was created by Polska 2050.
Ewa Szymanowska (Poland 2050) stressed that the aim of the project is to equalize inspection requirements for firearm owners in order to ensure the safety of our compatriots. She says current regulations have flaws that could cause human tragedy. Szymanowska pointed out that in Poland, permission to possess weapons for hunting purposes currently requires one medical and psychological examination. On the other hand, those who possess weapons for self-defense must repeat such tests every five years.
As Szymanowska added, hunters are the group that most frequently uses weapons. She stressed that she consulted doctors and recommended the introduction of more frequent testing for this group. They argued, inter alia: Diabetes, neurological changes, alcoholism, dependence on psychoactive substances or drugs taken can affect a hunter’s performance, the MP reported.
Barbara Oliwiecka (Poland 2050) argues that we are talking about routine medical examinations that many professional bodies undergo and that the new regulations are an attempt to harm hunters. He emphasized that this was a mistake. She was supported by KO MPs Mawgorzata Tolac, Claudia Jachila and Katarzyna Pikarska.
PiS: Removing hunters could make the country less secure
Meanwhile, Edward Ciarca (PiS) said the project was a “classic example of how bad diagnosis can lead to the promotion of solutions” that had nothing to do with safety, and on the contrary, it had nothing to do with safety. claimed to reduce. He assessed that removing a large proportion of hunters could lead to unfavorable changes in the natural world, the spread of ASF, the extinction of hunting traditions, and even a decline in national security.
According to the parliamentarian, Poland has one of the countries with statistically the lowest number of hunters, who constitute “an important defense base for the country”. He added that hunters are the safest group to use weapons. He stressed that there are no cases of illegal use of hunting weapons and that non-compliance with hunting regulations has nothing to do with hunters’ health.
The PiS lawmaker pointed out that regular tests cost up to PLN1,000 and many people, including farmers, cannot afford to be tested. The result, he argued, would be a return to hunting elitism and conflict between farmers, hunters and foresters, with no one left able to estimate hunting losses. He called accidents involving the use of weapons “marginal” and called for the bill to be defeated on first reading.
The ruling coalition is divided over Hunter.
Deputy Minister of Interior and Public Administration Czesław Mroczek emphasized that there is no official government position regarding this project.
Christian Uciak (KO) said that although the project contains good solutions, its justification does not include data showing a causal relationship between the number of accidents and shootings and the health status of hunters. He emphasized that he did not. He pointed out that the law gives hunters little time to conduct research, which he said justifies hunting associations’ concerns. Therefore, Mr Uciak said that KO recommended further work and detailed analysis of the project.
People’s Party members opposed the project. Urszula Nowogorska (PSL) spoke of hunters’ concern for the ecological balance, calling them “an extended force of Poland’s defense operations”, many of whom are equipped with night vision goggles and silencers. I pointed out that there are. According to the lawmaker, the project intentionally disarms hunting organizations. She said this was “bizarre and thoughtless” and introduced the toughest regulations for hunters in Europe.
Daria Gosek Popiowek (Left) defended the project, citing media information about the accident. She says five people die every year at the hands of hunters. – The translation is always the same. They confused the victim with a boar – she pointed out. The lawmaker said keeping the current restrictions in place would be a “mockery of safety”. She emphasized that people walking in the forest have the right to feel safe.
Poland’s 2050 parliament, led by Szymon Holownia, voted against rejecting the project, unlike PSL MPs who form the Third Road coalition. “86 percent of Poles want regular testing of hunters, because it is a good thing and it is fair,” reads the official Poland 2050 profile on the I was grateful.
Amendments to regulations regarding hunters. “Unreasonable restrictions”
Artur Schawabauka (PiS) responded to supporters of the project, saying it was a “left-wing influence” that weakened the country and disrespected nature.
– Because I saw you in these Ministry of Climate Change – blue hair, nose ring, very knowledgeable about nature – said Shawabauka.
Andrzej Tomasz Zapawowski (Federation) opposed the proposed regulation. He said it’s tougher than police officers and soldiers, who often use weapons. The lawmaker called for addressing illegal possession of weapons, not hunters. According to him, this project is destined for the trash.
Jarosław Sachajko (Republican) said the plan introduces unreasonable restrictions on hunters, discriminates against the elderly, and stigmatizes them.
