It's no exaggeration to say that Lost played a pivotal role in shaping the prestige TV show we know today. The iconic six-season mystery, which first aired in 2004, is currently a hit on Netflix UK after being added to the streaming service last week (August 15).
The series revolves around a group of survivors of a tragic plane crash (Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 to be exact), who end up on an island somewhere in the South Pacific, but all is not as expected and things get increasingly strange as the group tries to find a way back home.

Lost was created by Jeffrey Lieber, J.J. Abrams (who most recently served as executive producer on Apple TV's Presumed Innocent), and Damon Lindelof (who later worked on The Leftovers and HBO's Watchmen series).
The series features an incredible ensemble cast, including Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings), Harold Perrineau (Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet), Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries), Maggie Grace (Taken, Twilight), Josh Holloway (Yellowstone) and Naveen Andrews (The Dropout).

The supernatural survival show aired for a total of 121 episodes and averaged 16 million viewers at its peak. With mysteries like what on earth was the smoke monster and why were polar bears running around on a tropical island, LOST was the epitome of TV chat shows in the mid-2000s.
Now that it's available to stream in its entirety on Netflix, it could potentially reach a whole new audience, and its controversial ending is likely to become a hot topic of conversation once again. But for those diving into the world of Lost (and its vast mythology) for the first time, we won't give away any spoilers.
LOST is currently available to watch on Netflix and Disney+.
