The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas went into effect on Sunday. On the same day, 90 Palestinians were released. The next hostage release is scheduled to take place on January 25th. However, Hamas did not provide details on the number of people it would give freedom to.
Ceasefire between Israel and Hamas
The ceasefire in Gaza took effect at 6:30 a.m. Sunday. The decision was approved by the entire Israeli cabinet on Friday. Twenty-four ministers were in favor, and eight were against.
The agreement, negotiated with the participation of Egypt, Qatar and the United States, provides for a six-week ceasefire and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
