Israeli forces attacked a crisis response center in the Nuserat market area in the central Gaza Strip. At least 48 Palestinians were killed in the airstrike. Reuters reported, citing local sources, that the victims included Al Jazeera reporter Ahmed Al Rouha and an emergency worker.

The Israeli military said the attack targeted Hamas and Islamic jihadists based at the Gaza Civil Defense Office in Nuseyrat. Ahmed al-Rouh was presented as a member of the Islamic Jihad militant group, but Reuters stressed that this was not supported by evidence.

Al Jazeera did not comment on Israeli claims about journalists' participation in hostilities, but recalled that Israeli forces had previously killed journalists at the station who they accused of belonging to armed groups.
Hamas media reported that Nedar Abu Jayel, head of the Nuseyrat Crisis Response Service, was among those killed in the Israeli attack.

Reuters could not determine whether any Hamas fighters were among those killed. The Palestinian Ministry of Health does not distinguish between combatants and non-combatants when providing data on casualties. However, Israeli authorities claim that Gaza fighters are hiding among civilians and using them as human shields. Hamas denies these claims.
