There was a shooting incident near the Israeli embassy in Amman on Sunday morning. Police killed the attacker and three officers were injured. There have been previous anti-Israel demonstrations in the Jordanian capital in connection with the war in the Gaza Strip. Many Jordanians are from Palestine.
Jordan's official Petra news agency reported that police shot and killed a man on patrol in the Rabia neighborhood of Jordan's capital Amman, where the Israeli embassy is located.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the area, after which police cordoned off the area. Police officers and ambulances were also seen rushing in that direction.

Police urged residents to remain in their homes while they search for the perpetrator, security officials said.
Saudi broadcaster Al Arabiya reported that the situation following the incident near the embassy was “under control” and that emergency service vehicles had begun departing from the area.

In the past, anti-Israel demonstrations related to the war in the Gaza Strip were frequently held in the Rabia Strip. Many of Jordan's 12 million residents are of Palestinian descent.
