The explosion damaged a canal that supplies water for the cooling systems of two coal-fired power plants near the town of Zubin Potok, which are the main source of electricity for all of Kosovo. Prime Minister Albin Kurti said parts of Kosovo could be without power starting Saturday morning if the damage is not repaired.

“This was a criminal terrorist attack aimed at destroying critical infrastructure of our country,” Kurti said at a press conference, adding: “The attack was carried out by professionals. This canal also supplies drinking water. It connects the capital, Pristina, with parts of Kosovo, inhabited mainly by Serbs.
