“The entire political doctrine of Poland is a doctrine of madness,” Krzysztof Twiński, a former PSL politician and deputy finance minister in the PiS government and now head of the Front party, said on Belarusian television. He criticized Poland’s current policies toward Russia and Belarus, calling them “paranoid” and provocative.
Krzysztof Twiński appeared on the program “To jest inne”, which was broadcast on the main Belarusian state television station1. He is quoted, among other things, as saying: Belarusian portal news.by.
– The change of government in Poland has not resolved anything in the relations between Poland and Belarus and between Poland and Russia. Unfortunately, they changed for the worse. The Polish politician said he thinks we all agree that the situation is now more tense and conflictual.

In his opinion, it is clear that Russia is currently winning the war in Ukraine. – It is Russia’s decision whether there will be a ceasefire or peace. He argued that no rational politician should truly understand that he would not dictate any conditions to Russia.
– It is assumed that Polish politicians, in this case the president, prime minister and ministers, will demand from Russia how the war in Ukraine should end and what Ukraine should look like after the war. But he added that this assumption is certainly wrong.

Krzysztof Towiński has had a rich political career. In 1995 he joined the Polish People’s Party, became a member of the Podlasie parliament and served as deputy county marshal.
In 2007, he became Deputy Secretary of State at the Ministry of Finance in the government of Jarosław Kaczynski. Three years later, he became a member of PiS and entered parliament.

Towinski visited Belarus many times. He appeared there in August 2022, several months after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine. Belarusian media introduced him as “head of the delegation of Podlasie Oblast.”
The purpose of the visit was to establish bilateral relations between Grodno Oblast and Podlasie County, but Podlasie County Marshal Artur Kosicki denied this information.
