KANSAS CITY, Kansas (KCTV) – The University of Kansas Health System plans to welcome hundreds of thousands of participants to its latest study on diversity in medical backgrounds.
The University of Kansas Health System announced on Wednesday, Aug. 14, that it plans to begin accepting participants in the National Institutes of Health's newest initiative, the “All of Us” research program.
KU Health officials noted the program aims to advance precision medicine research so clinicians can customize patient care by taking into account biological characteristics, behavior and environmental differences.
To that end, university officials said the program has created a national research resource that includes comprehensive, de-identified health information from participants that reflects the diversity of the country.
The program will be led by the Heartland Consortium, which includes academic medical centers at the University of Kansas, University of Iowa, University of Missouri and University of Nebraska.
Heartland Consortium is located in the KU Medical Center Health Education Building (2146 W. 39th Ave.) in Kansas City, Kansas.
