LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – As the winter season approaches, the Laredo Health Department is reminding residents that vaccines are available.
Because COVID-19 and flu cases peak during the colder months when people gather together, health officials stress that taking precautions is the best way to avoid serious illness.
The ministry also said getting vaccinated before it's too late could make a big difference.
Cassandra Diaz, a registered nurse with the Laredo Health Department, spoke about the importance of getting vaccinated.
“What the vaccine does is reduce complications like hospitalizations and infections like pneumonia and things like that. It's important to make sure you don't get hospitalized or anything like that. Basically, just follow the simple steps of washing your hands and taking precautions before you get sick and you'll be fine,” Diaz said.
Health officials say flu vaccines are currently available at the Laredo Health Department.
