Latham & Watkins, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Ashurst advised CK Infrastructure Holdings (CKI), the business unit of Hong Kong businessman Li Ka-shing, on two UK transactions.
Hong Kong-listed CKI has completed a secondary listing of its issued shares, marking its first debut under the London Stock Exchange's new listing rules.
Latham & Watkins acted as U.S. counsel to the issuer, while Freshfields Hong Kong partner Grace Huang provided Hong Kong law advice. Linklaters advised the underwriter, HSBC.
British financial regulators last month approved the most significant reforms to the London Stock Exchange (LSE) in nearly 30 years, including one that would allow non-UK incorporated companies with overseas listing qualifications to pursue secondary listings in certain areas of the LSE.
Additionally, Assurest, on behalf of a consortium consisting of CKI, its subsidiaries Power Assets and CK Assist, is acquiring Aviva Investors' UK wind farms for GBP 350 million (US$ 453.7 million), due to close in late September. The portfolio includes 32 onshore wind farms with a total capacity of 175 MW.
Partners Jason Radford and Jacob Gold led the team, supported by partner Chin Yeow. Partners Antony Skinner, Jamie Chapman, Eleanor Reeves, Charlie Reid, Neil Cunningham, Nicholas Gardner, Sunny Kumar and Tim Rennie advised on energy transactions, real estate, competition, taxation, intellectual property and loan matters.
