A UN base was attacked. Italian soldier injured
Four soldiers were injured in an attack on a UN base in Lebanon. The injured are Italian nationals. Prime Minister Georgia Meloni issued a statement underscoring her outrage at the situation. The head of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs then pointed out the possible culprits of the attack.
The attack occurred on Friday. The military target was the United Nations Forces Base (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon. Ansa news agency reported that four Italian soldiers were injured in the attack. He added that the lives of the injured were not in danger, according to information received from Italian government officials.

The Italian Prime Minister commented on the situation. “We take with deep outrage and concern the news of a new attack on Italy's UNIFIL headquarters in southern Lebanon,” Georgia Meloni said in a statement.
“Such attacks are unacceptable and I reiterate my appeal to regional stakeholders to ensure the safety of UNIFIL soldiers at all times and to help swiftly identify those responsible,” the prime minister added.

At the same time, on behalf of herself and the Government, she expressed solidarity and closeness to the injured and their families. She also expressed gratitude for her military service in the Italian contingent.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also commented on the incident and pointed out the possible culprit. – What is happening is unacceptable. Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani said: “We tell Israel to pay utmost attention to the security of UNIFIL, and with the same firmness we tell Hezbollah that Italian soldiers are untouchable.” he said.
He acknowledged that two missiles fired by Hezbollah probably landed on bases in Italy.

In recent weeks, this is the latest attack on UNIFIL mission bases in Italy. When it came under Israeli shelling in October, there was strong protest from Meloni's government.
On Tuesday, four UNIFIL soldiers from Ghana were injured when rockets hit a military post in southern Lebanon. UNIFIL said the missile was launched by a “non-state actor.” The Israeli military said it was a Hezbollah rocket.
