RAA Exhibition
The Redwood Art Association Gallery will host its 66th annual “Fall Exhibition” in memory of David Boston.
This juried members' exhibition will be on view from August 21st to September 20th.
Online entries are being accepted from now through Friday at 7 p.m. Online entries may be brought to the RAA Gallery, 603 F St., in Eureka, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Wetlands Tour
The Redwood Region Audubon Society will host a free guided field trip at the Arcata Wetlands and Wildlife Refuge from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
Bring binoculars and meet tour leader Katherine Wendell at the end of South I Street (Crop Lake) in Arcata for an easy walk along the trail and the chance to see a variety of species. Bird migration is well underway and you may see species such as the white-tailed sandpiper, yellow-legged sandpiper, bar-tailed godwit, curlew and marsh harrier.
Tour the Wetlands
The Friends of Arcata Wetlands will be hosting free tours of the Arcata Wetlands and Wildlife Refuge on Saturday.
Participants will meet leader Len Vance in the lobby of the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center on South G Street at 2 p.m. for a 90-minute walk that will focus on the history of the area, innovative aspects of wastewater management, and birds and plants that can be spotted along the way. Bird Watching Tours
The Redwood Region Audubon Society will host free guided birding tours along the Eureka Waterfront Trail from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday with Ralph Butcher as the leader.
This relatively urban trail offers the potential for greater species richness and diversity than many remote locations. Cormorants, loons, grebes, and even otters can be seen diving for food in the bays along the trail. The walk is a flat, paved trail that is wheelchair accessible. Dance Party
The dance, featuring live music and a “great floor,” will be held Monday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 4328 Campton Road in Eureka. Admission is $9.
Community Meetings
Brian Brown from Disaster Response Services and CERT Team Instructor from the Humboldt Bay Fire CERT Team will discuss the formation of Kneeland and Freshwater's new Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) on August 23rd at 6pm at Freshwater Grange (49 Grange Road, Freshwater).

Family Events
The Humboldt Literacy Project invites families to a free “Family Literacy Party” presented by Rex Atienza on Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. at the Fortuna Library (753 14th St., Fortuna).
Experience breakdancing and hip hop culture with Reckless Rex of Humboldt Rockers. Learn the history of breakdancing, see it in action, and learn a few moves. Recruiting craftsmen
The City of Arcata Recreation Department invites artists and crafters to display and sell their work at the 23rd annual “Holiday Craft Market.”
The event is an annual fundraiser for the Arcata Recreation Department's Youth Development Scholarship Fund, which supports area youth by subsidizing fees for recreation programs throughout the year.
The market will be held at the Arcata Community Center (321 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway) on Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration will be open Monday through Nov. 1. Advance registration is required. All artwork displayed at the market must be original work created by artists and exhibitors.
