MPC studio projects belonging to Technicolor included Mufasa the Lion King
The group of visual effects behind Mufasa The Lion King of Disney and its next Snow White remake is on the verge of failure.
Technicolor has a splint of main visual effects studios, including MPC, Mikros Animation and Le Moulin, with operations in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and India
The company based in Paris employs 446 people in the United Kingdom, according to recent documents and told staff not to enter the office.
The BBC approached Technicolor for comment
Visual effects studios (VFX) play a key role in the production of films. Most modern big budget films and television will be based strongly on the visual effects to transport actors and audiences in the outdoor space, the distant past or the depth.
And the appearance and non -vocal performance of characters and creatures, fantastic and other will often be partly or entirely the creation of animators and other specialized employees.
In addition to purely animated films and television, many live action outings are largely the work, employees of the VFX studios.
Many employees work in the cinema on fixed -term contracts, so that redundancies, if they are announced, may not reflect the total impact of business problems on jobs.
MPC belonging to Technicolor was founded in 1970 as a production company based in Soho. It was a force majeure in the VFX industry which offers big budget films such as the recent computer -driven remakes of The Lion King and The Jungle Book of Disney.
Recent projects include “Kraven the Hunter”, “Young Woman and the Sea” and “Emilia Perez” according to Variety.
Mikros animation projects include two recent titles from Mutants Ninja Turtles and the Paw Patrol films series.
“Rendering in peace”
In an email sent to British staff, Technicolor said that the British entity of the Technicolor Creative Studios UK LTD group had filed a request for administration on Monday.
The staff were told not to enter the office.
US employees were also informed that the company could fall back by e-mail.
According to the animation, the publisher Cartoon Brew, an email sent during the weekend by CEO Caroline Parot, said that “external opposites” had exacerbated the problems caused by factors such as post recovery -Caché.
She also declared that the strike of American writers, which led to a slowdown in the demand for work of VFX, causing “severe” pressure on the cash flow.
These same problems will add to the anxiety of the staff and can fear to enter what has been a relatively meager job market for VFX professionals.
“Render in Peace” a 13 -year -old self -proclaimed veteran wrote on Reddit – a reference to the intense process in calculating the production of quality final images, a process known as rendering.
