Brian Kelly and the LSU football staff have the nation's No. 3 recruiting class, led by five-star playmaker Bryce Underwood.
The program currently has 25 commitments at this point and is looking to add more.
Kelly and the team will be adding new members to their lineup as Underwood (first quarterback), Harlem Berry (first running back) and DJ Pickett (first cornerback) have all verbally committed to the Bayou Bengals.
Who is LSU keeping an eye on in the 2025 class?
The prospect from Calvary Day School in Georgia is expected to make his admissions decision in the coming days, with LSU being his favorite.
Mathis, a 6-foot-3, 285-pound defensive lineman, took an official visit to the LSU Tigers over the summer and the team was eager to sign him.
“I could tell right away that Coach (Beau) Davis is a really good coach. He's a hard worker and gets results. This means a lot to me because it's proof that his players are in the NFL. He's coached some really good college players and helped them get into the NFL. They seem to be in a good situation with him at LSU,” Mathis told 247Sports in April. “I think the campus is great and the facilities are even better. Coach Davis and his staff gave me a tour of the school and the facilities and everything was great.”
LSU, along with Miami, Clemson and Auburn, received official visits over the summer and were seen as the team to beat late, but the Bayou Bengals have plenty of research here.
As it stands, LSU is stepping up its efforts and looking to add a player from the Peach State to its robust 2025 freshman recruiting class.
Mathis is expected to announce his college decision by the end of August, and LSU teams are putting all the pressure on the coveted defensive lineman.
Ruston, Louisiana cornerback Aidan Anding has committed to Brian Kelly and the Louisiana State University Tigers, he announced on social media on Saturday.
The No. 2 ranked cornerback in the state of Louisiana chose Louisiana State University over Arkansas and Texas and will stay home to play for the Bayou Bengals.
Standing 6-foot tall and weighing 170 pounds, Anding has a lot of potential and will be a great addition to LSU secondary coach Corey Raymond's team as he looks to revamp his cornerback corps.
He becomes the third cornerback to verbally commit to the Tigers, joining the nation's No. 1 cornerback DJ Pickett and top-10 cornerback in the 2025 class, Cade Phillips.
It's an impressive team for Raymond, who returned to Baton Rouge in January and, upon his return to The Boot, he began an aggressive recruiting campaign to bring some “DBU” prestige back to Death Valley.
“Actually, even though it's a state school, I wasn't a football player (growing up),” Anding told On3. “I was a basketball player, but I didn't watch that much basketball. I didn't really think about football. But then I heard about (LSU) and I saw the stuff about it, number one, it's a good program, it's a state school, you see a lot of fans and love for the program.”
LSU offered Anding late in the recruiting process, and after he was rumored to be transferring to the Texas Longhorns in June, the Tigers offered him a scholarship right before he was about to make his college decision.
Once LSU and scouting guru Frank Wilson made his decision, Anding went back to the drawing board and pondered his options with the camp.
Then, when the recruiting hiatus lifted the last weekend in July, Anding headed to the Bayou Splash recruiting event in Baton Rouge.
The rest is history from there: He enjoyed the views of Death Valley while surrounded by his LSU commits and targets.
Anding joins the nation's No. 3 recruiting class, led by five-star recruits Bryce Underwood (No. 1 QB), DJ Pickett (No. 1 CB), Harlem Berry (No. 1 RB) and Derek Meadows (top-10 WR).
