The European Parliament has decided to abolish the immunity of PIS MEP Maciej WąSik and Mariusz Kamiński. The Polish prosecutor’s office has accused them of failing to comply with the court’s final ruling to ban official functions.
The Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee recommended that the immunity of wąsik and Kamiński be revoked in the second half of March, and the European Parliament has now been accepted by the recommendation.
The EU procedure places an obligation on the chairman of the EP Roberta Metrusora to transfer decisions of both the MEP and the related Polish institutions.

Metsoli was transferred to Metsoli politicians at the end of July 2024 and to prosecutor Adam Bodnar at the end of July 2024.
The prosecutor’s office has accused the former minister of failing to comply with the court’s final ruling that bans public functions. Investigators believe W. Chic and Kamiski have illegally voted for Sejm’s seating after they were convicted of conduct in connection with So-Called Land Scandal.

Meanwhile, both politicians say they were effectively forgiven by President Andrze Duda. In their opinion, the entire pending issue is politically motivated, and current authorities in Poland cannot guarantee that the process is honest.
The loss of Congress’s immunity means that normal procedural and preparatory activities will be carried out against the PIS MEP, and in the future they may hear allegations and charges may be formulated against them.
