Mark VanderZyl joins Wexford Science & Technology as founding site director of Connect Labs Baltimore

Wexford Science & Technology, LLC announced that Mark Vanderzil will serve as the founding site director of Connect Labs Baltimore. Scheduled to open in November 2024, the new facility will be a cornerstone of Wexford's innovation infrastructure, and Vanderzil's extensive experience will be integral to its success.
Wexford Science & Technology is renowned for creating innovative, amenity-rich knowledge communities that foster growth and collaboration. Located in the University of Maryland BioPark's new 4MLK building, the Connect Labs Baltimore facility will provide 35,000 square feet of flexible lab and office space. Cathy Webb, vice president of Connect Labs at Wexford, expressed confidence in Mark's new role, saying, “We are pleased to welcome Mark to the Connect Labs Baltimore team. His experience driving life science startups and deep involvement in the local ecosystem will make him a valuable asset to our organization and a driving force in supporting life science companies in Baltimore.”
Jim Hughes, University of Maryland's chief enterprise and economic development officer, added, “Under Mark's leadership, Connect Labs Baltimore will accelerate the growth of numerous biotechnology companies, bringing medical discoveries to patients and jobs to Baltimore.”

Mark VanderZyl brings extensive experience in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship to his role as the founding site director of Connect Labs Baltimore. Most recently, he served as the Associate Director of Startup Advancement at Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, where he was dedicated to supporting startups with essential resources, funding opportunities, mentorship and industry connections. At FastForward, Johns Hopkins' innovation hub, he connected startups with the tools they need to succeed.
Mark has played a key role in leading and supporting strategic initiatives in the areas of drug development, molecular diagnostics and digital health, and is also committed to building strong partnerships within and beyond the Baltimore ecosystem, contributing to the company's vibrant entrepreneurial community.
