The event was confirmed by the Russian consul of Marseille, Stanislaw Olanski. In an interview with the newspaper “La Marseillaise,” he said the service was being held in the middle of the building.
As the editors of Provence at BFM Marseille learned, the explosion was caused by two Molotov cocktails thrown into the garden of the consulate. The explosion did not lead to serious damage. There is no information about the victim either.
Russia has already responded to the event. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for a “full investigation” into the explosions and actions aimed at “enhancing the safety of Russian foreign agencies.” Maria Zakkarova – a ministry spokeswoman commented on the incident in an interview with a journalist.
– The explosion of the Russian Consulate in Marseille has all the features of a terrorist attack – Zakarovar said.
The building is located on Ambroise-Paré Street. There are many other consulates, including Egypt, Tunisia, Armenia, St. Thomas and Kshishaka.
