“I declare martial law in order to protect the free Republic of Korea from the threat of the North Korean communist army, eliminate the heinous pro-North Korean anti-national forces that destroy the freedom and happiness of the people, and protect the constitutional order. ” Jun said in an unannounced speech broadcast live on YTN TV.
Yonhap News added that the entrance to the South Korean National Assembly was blocked. It added that politicians were not allowed to enter the building.
