The win has kicked off a remarkable run of success for Verstappen, who has won three straight drivers' championships since 2021 and is bidding for a fourth victory this season to equal Vettel's record with the team.
His first world title came after a fierce season-long battle with seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton, with the pair tied on points going into the final race in Abu Dhabi.

“It was very emotional to win my first title with the team after such a difficult and tough year for everyone,” he said. “I'll never forget that moment. The whole relationship with the team really feels like a second family. I can really be myself, which is also very important.”
“It's been really great. There's a lot of people who've been with me since the beginning, but there are also some new people on the team and it's really great to be able to work with them all.”
The Red Bull driver currently leads the season standings ahead of Lando Norris, having scored 277 of the team's 408 total points, with Sergio Perez enduring a tough year.
