Arrests – Asia Poole Murder Investigation: Monarch Ridge Apartments Shooting
Detectives with the Birmingham Police Department have obtained arrest warrants for three suspects in the Asia Poole Murder/Monarch Ridge (Valley Brook) Shooting investigation.
Asia Poole was shot and killed on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024, in the 2900 block of Gallant Drive.
Suspect:
1. Janiyah Hendrix, 19, of Birmingham, Alabama, auto theft ($30,000 bail).
2. Justin Hendricks, 20, of Birmingham, Alabama, murder and attempted murder (no bail).
3. Taylor McCloud, 22, of Fairfield, Alabama, murder and attempted murder (no bail).
Both Hendricks were arrested by the Birmingham Police SWAT team.
An outside agency arrested McLeod.
All suspects were booked into the Jefferson County Jail.

Murder Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the murder. The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024.
The victims have been identified as:
Asia Alice Poole, 21, B/F, of Birmingham, Alabama;
At approximately 10:09 p.m., East Police Department responded to a call of multiple gunshots heard in the area, which was quickly updated to say a person had been shot.
When officers arrived on scene, they found an adult female unresponsive on the ground, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
“Preliminary investigation indicates a physical altercation occurred between multiple individuals, including the victim. Once the two were separated, an unknown individual fired a gun, fatally wounding the victim. A second victim also sustained a gunshot wound and was transported by Birmingham Fire Rescue to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”
The victim's vehicle was also stolen from the scene of the crime, but was recovered a short time later in a vacant lot in the 2300 block of Center Point Parkway.
No one is in custody.
