More than 30 years of service to children and youth in DC’s 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Wards will continue for the next five years thanks to a generous donation.

WASHINGTON, DC (Monday, August 12, 2024) — MedStar Health and Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) are proud to announce their collaboration on the Kids Mobile Medical Clinic, which includes a newly designed version of the well-known and much-loved mobile pediatric medical center emblazoned with the logos of MSE's sports teams. Since 1992, Kids Mobile Medical Clinic, operated by MedStar Health's Community Pediatrics division, has provided high-quality, convenient and affordable primary care to thousands of children and adolescents in Washington, DC's 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Wards.
Each year, the Kids Mobile Medical Clinic sees more than 800 patients and sees approximately 1,600 visitors, ranging from newborns to age 21. In the past four years alone, the clinic has seen more than 3,500 patients in more than 7,000 visits and conducted more than 1,600 screenings on social determinants of health, including food insecurity, housing, education, income and community safety.
Children are seen with or without insurance and families are not charged for care.The clinic provides regular health screenings, vision and hearing screenings, clinical testing, illness consultations, immunizations, mental health and social needs screenings, an integrated mental health and care coordination team, and community resources and specialist referrals to the community.

The mobile clinic enhancements were made possible through a generous donation from Monumental Sports & Entertainment, with additional annual contributions over five years to fund the clinic's operations. MedStar Health recognizes the impact of this significant donation, which ensures continuity of the clinic's vital care services and strengthens MedStar Health's efforts to improve healthcare access in the area.

Generous support from Monumental Sports & Entertainment has enabled Kids Mobile Medical Clinic to maintain its two-unit model, which includes core pediatric medical care, plus a second mobile unit to provide well-being services and address the complex social and mental health risk factors that impact the health outcomes of children and families served. The clinic's integrated care team, including a family service worker, clinical social worker and well-being coordinator, will continue to provide direct services through team-based visits alongside pediatricians and families, while connecting families to important programs and services to help them thrive and stay healthy.
The clinic's two 400-square-foot vehicles — a mobile medical unit and a wellness unit — have begun showing off their latest upgrades in features and services and a new blue-and-maize exterior design. The design also includes logos of parent company MSE and several of the teams the company owns, including the Washington Capitals, Wizards, Mystics and Capital City Go-Go. The vehicles will maintain their usual four-days-a-week schedule, treating patients on-site outside a public housing community in southeast Washington, D.C.
The Kids Mobile Medical Clinic is just one example of many public health collaborations between MedStar Health and Monumental Sports & Entertainment in recent years. Since 2019, Monumental has donated more than $6 million to MedStar Health to support projects and initiatives such as:
DC Safe Babies Safe Moms is a collaborative initiative with MedStar Health aimed at strengthening the health of mothers and infants in the nation's capital. Additionally, MSE has supported MedStar Health's Wellbeing Center; COVID-19 response and vaccination efforts during the pandemic; and strengthening the sports medicine program at MedStar Health's Lafayette Center, where patients receive outpatient surgery, physical therapy and rehabilitation.
