The prosecutor’s office closed the case of the tragedy in Mikolajskie Lake (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship), where a four-year-old girl fell from a boat and her mother and father rushed to help her. Unlike her parents, the girl was wearing a life jacket. Sailors pulled him out of the water. Parents drowned. The prosecutor’s office says that no one has committed a crime here.
– This case was closed because we did not find any signs of prohibited activity. Bohuslava Pidsudko-Kaliszuk, the head of the prosecutor’s office of Mryagovo district, says that the parents jumped into the water to save their child.
We are talking about the tragic event that took place on July 30 of last year in Przechka, the place that connects Mikolajskie, Shniardvi and Beldani lakes.

The four-year-old girl, who was wearing a life jacket, fell from the boat, which does not require a license to rent. His mother and then his father jumped to his aid. The child was brought safely out of the water by nearby sailors, but both the child’s parents drowned. Their bodies were brought out from a depth of 11 meters the next day.

– During the inspection, an expert was appointed to examine the technical condition of the motor. It turned out to be in good condition and equipped with the appropriate amount of life jackets, life rings, etc. Witnesses testified that the boat was not in contact with other boats, so it did not collide with another boat – said Daniel, the spokesman. for the Olsztyn district prosecutor’s office.
Prosecution: parental instinct kicks in
He adds that the parents were not injured and the immediate cause of death was drowning.
– Unlike the child who fortunately had a life jacket and wore it well, they were not wearing life jackets. Parental instinct kicks in. Although both supposedly knew how to swim, they drowned in the stressful situation, the prosecutor said.
