Tips to avoid illness
The release further states that MHD advises the community to take the following precautions as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
Stay Cool
Slow down. Limit physical activity and spend part of your day in air-conditioned places like shopping malls, movie theaters or libraries. Don't leave children or pets unattended in parked cars, as a rise in body temperature can be fatal within minutes. Wear light, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing. Take cool baths or showers and cool yourself by holding a wet towel against your skin. Don't rely on electric fans as your primary cooling device. Check on those most at risk twice a day.
Stay hydrated
Drink plenty of water throughout the day, regardless of how thirsty you feel. Avoid caffeinated and alcoholic drinks, which can intensify the effects of the fever. Tell others to drink plenty of water, too.
