Coach of the Year comments:
Since 2011, more than half of the Coach of the Year winners (7 of 13) have won the award within their first two years of being hired. This bodes well for the top three vote-getters in the category, including analysts' top pick DeMeco Ryans, who has a chance to become the first Coach of the Year in Texans history. Jim Harbaugh, who won Coach of the Year honors in his first season with the 49ers (2011), has a chance to become the first coach to win the award in his first year with two different franchises. Harbaugh would also be the first coach to win the title as the Chargers' head coach after Marty Schottheimer won the award 20 years ago. Since 2015, only two coaches (Sean McVay and John Harbaugh) have led their team to the playoffs the following season after winning Coach of the Year. Could current COTY winner Kevin Stefanski, who also won the award in 2020, become the third winner?
