A photo of Wioleta Gorecka depicting the solar eclipse in Iceland has been made available by NASA in astronomy photos of the day. American Space Agency publishes photos of Astronomical Objects or Astrok -Script daily.
– The photo shows the solar eclipse on March 29th in Iceland. The solar eclipse reached up to 70%. Due to the fact that the sun was already very high, to take this photo we needed the right hill and a place where the cloud cover was ideal for one exhibition.
– The choice is dormant volcano – Grablock, a 170m high Grablock. A strong, chilly wind was blowing at the top, so it was mainly a sacrifice for my friend Irona Kurzanowska, who can be seen in the photographs. The photo itself was technically one of the most difficult things I had to do – she admitted.

Astronomical photos of the day. Polish woman thanked NASA
As she stated, her adventure in the photograph began with the first observation of the polar horse. So, 16 years ago, she moved to Iceland.
– The Cosmos itself has been inspiring to me since I was a child. So, with the development of workshops, we were reaching out more and more boldly to the stars in photographs. First winning competitions, distinctions, publications began to appear – she explained.
Wioleta Gorecka’s photo was awarded for the second time in an astronomical photo on NASA Day. She was first highly praised in August 2023. She has acquired gas emissions from the polar aurora, Fagradalfjal volcano, and from the Svardsengi geothermal power plant.

Polish celestial phobia: “It awakens Explorer syndrome.”
– These locations are usually far away due to the very high lighting in Europe. For example, in Poland there is only one such black pearl. Bieszczady Mountains is unfortunately worsening – she said.
– 75% of the world is scary. The population has never seen the Milky Way. There are various articles on lighting – from the harmful to energy savings of such situations, but nothing happens from that time. This rule doesn’t seem to be interested in the issue – she added.
– This technique is developing. We are unable to address simple issues towards ecological solutions, sometimes very radical, exaggerated in cities and villages, completely salvation lighting – she pointed out.

– Nevertheless, he is interested in astrophotography among people of all ages, from teenagers to pensioners. I am grateful both at home and abroad. I’m very impressed with how much the field has evolved in terms of technology, and promotes some solutions, and at the same time, he can reach the star if someone is very hoping. This has caused us to have explorer syndrome worthy of Nicolaus Copernicus, and I am proud of this – she concluded.
