The Netherlands will introduce land border controls from December 9, the Ministry of Immigration has announced. It added that the effects last for 6 months. Dutch authorities have announced that testing will be carried out selectively. These are intended to focus on specific high-risk connections.
Immigration Minister Marjoline Faber said on Monday that check checks at Dutch land borders will resume from December 9th. She added that they are valid for six months.
Reuters reported that the reinstatement of border controls, all in countries within the EU's Schengen free zone, is part of a broader fight against migration proposed by the right-wing coalition led by Geert Wilders' PVV party. It also added that it was following similar moves in neighboring Germany.

– Minister Faber asserts that the testing is aimed at causing little disruption to business operations and the daily commute. He added that other countries had previously reintroduced border controls.

Geert van Eyck of Dutch consulting and logistics firm Evofenedex was quoted by the Brussels Times as saying he was concerned that more countries were reintroducing such restrictions.
So far, it was recalled that the countries of Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Finland and Sweden have done so.
