On Wednesday, the New England Patriots traded Matthew Judon to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Elliot Wolf said he wants to do things the “Packers way” while in charge of the team in New England, which includes drafting, developing and signing extensions to core players.
New England is scheduled to have nine picks in the 2025 draft.
Round 1 – New England Patriots
The Patriots hold the first-round pick themselves and are currently projected to have a top-five pick for the second straight year, the first time New England has done so since 1993 and 1994. The Patriots selected Drew Bledsoe and Willie McGinest in those drafts.
Round 2 – New England Patriots
New England dropped in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, dropping three spots in the second round in a trade with the Chargers, but then moved up to 27th (137th to 110th) on Day 3 of the draft. After dropping down a spot, the Patriots drafted Jalyn Polk with the 37th pick.
Round 3 – New England Patriots
A year ago, the Patriots stuck with their third-round pick and selected Kaidan Wallace, a pick that will likely finish in the 65th to 70th range if New England doesn't exceed expectations in 2024.
Round 3 – Atlanta Falcons
This is the pick they acquired in the trade for Matthew Judon. If Patriots fans want a guaranteed draft pick without rooting for their favorite team, this team gives them a team not to root for. The worse the Falcons perform in 2024, the better this pick will be.
Round 4 – New England Patriots Round 5 – New England Patriots
New England controls its own picks in the first five rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Round 6 – None
The Patriots traded a sixth-round pick to the Los Angeles Chargers a year ago in exchange for cornerback J.C. Jackson and a seventh-round pick.
Round 7 – New England Patriots
In the 2024 draft, the Patriots were excited to still have tight end Jaheim Bell, and these picks could be something of a priority for undrafted free agent prospects, who New England has long been a big fan of.
Round 7 – Tennessee Titans
New England acquired the pick in exchange for Nick Folk on the 2023 cutdown day. Rookie Chad Ryland beat Folk to the Patriots' placekicker position, and Tennessee traded away a seventh-round pick to ensure they had a solid veteran. The Patriots were going to waive Folk, but the Titans got a reliable kicker. It was a win-win trade.
Round 7 – Browns, Chargers, Vikings
The New England Patriots acquired J.C. Jackson last season in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but also received a seventh-round pick from the Chargers. However, the Los Angeles Chargers own three seventh-round picks, and there have been various reports as to which pick the Patriots will own. If it wasn't the Chargers' pick, it could have gone to either the Cleveland Browns or the Minnesota Vikings.
