If it feels like your social media feeds are overflowing with picturesque weddings set in European vineyards, you're not wrong: searches for “vineyard weddings” have skyrocketed by 75% this year alone.
In response to this growing trend, European ferry operator DFDS conducted an in-depth study to shortlist Europe's most beautiful vineyards that also double as wedding venues. The study considered a combination of factors, including customer satisfaction and keywords such as “beautiful” and “scenic,” to find the best vineyards on the continent.
The vineyards below are some of Europe's finest and range from the rolling hills of Italy and France to the outstanding vineyards of Croatia and Albania.
Vinarija Lizman from Croatia
Vinarija Lizman, located in the Croatian countryside, is ranked number one as the most beautiful vineyard wedding venue in Europe. Set on 23 hectares of new vineyards, it boasts an impressive 1,700 olive trees, all of which are harvested and cared for entirely by hand by the Štimac family. The real draw of this vineyard is the stunning views over the sea below and the unique Croatian coastline.
Poggio del Moro Boutique Winery, Italy
Italy's Poggio del Moro Boutique Winery took second place as one of Europe's most beautiful vineyards, thanks to the property's tranquil lake and adjacent rolling vineyards.
Italian winery San Giorgio a Lapis
The second Italian vineyard on our list is the stunning San Giorgio a Lapi winery in Tuscany. This gorgeous family-run estate is also home to the Church of San Giorgio, which dates back to 1109.
Avaya Winery and Vineyards, Albania
Avaya Winery and Vineyards in Albania is a relatively new winery, having only just opened to the public in 2021. The winery is set within two bunkers built during the communist era, offering a totally unique experience.
Château de la Clée in France
Château de la Clée in Santenay dates back to the 15th century and offers classic French vineyard beauty for a picture-perfect wedding.
English Oak Vineyards in England
English Oak Vineyard is the first and only British vineyard to make this list, and is hugely popular for its stunning views and excellent service.
Others on the list included Croatia's Castel Sicli, Portugal's Quinta do Jarot, Armenia's Momik Winecube and Croatia's Vitis Winery, the third Croatian vineyard to make the top ten.
