Sam Farley's best Chargers vs. Cowboys bet: Bet on Trey Lance to lead Dallas
Sam Farley
We have to favor the Cowboys to cover the spread at home against the Chargers, who have had a terrible preseason without center Justin Herbert, scoring just 12 points in two games with Easton Stick and Luis Perez yet to throw a touchdown pass.
The Cowboys will likely bench Dak Prescott and limit Cooper Rush's minutes, giving Trey Lance a real opportunity to make his presence known and make a run for Dallas' backup spot.
Lance has been looking good in camp, completing 15 of 23 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown last week to lead the Cowboys to a win over the Raiders, after passing for 188 yards the week before. This is Lance SZN.
Pick: Cowboys -3.5 (-110)
John Lanfranca's best Browns vs. Seahawks bets: Back Seattle early
John Lanfranca
Kevin Stefanski seems keen to have Deshaun Watson play in Cleveland's preseason finale against the Seahawks, but he hasn't fully committed. Watson missed practice on Wednesday with full-body soreness, but returned to practice on Thursday. Either way, injuries on the offensive line have left the roster thin with some key members of the front line barely practicing, so it would be a surprise if Watson were to play an extended role in Saturday night's game.
But we do know that Seattle's starting offense will be there for this one. Geno Smith and company are set to make their preseason debut. If Smith has early success, it means the Seahawks are up to the task. Sam Howell will then take over the offense, leading two scoring drives in Seattle's preseason opener and posting a 136.0 passer rating in Week 2's dominating win over the Titans.
Seattle's starting defense only played two series during the exhibition season, forcing opponents out on third down twice. They will also be facing an injured Browns offensive line. I think there's a good chance Seattle will get out to an early lead.
Pick: Seahawks -0.5 1st Half (+105)
