Kim Dzong Un is building a new strategy at the ocean. New frigate in the background
North Korean state media has announced the construction of two new frigates for the national navy. Western media shows that this is a change in Pyongyang’s military strategy and that new tactical systems will be implemented with increased cooperation with Russia.
Recently, North Korea has boasted the construction of atomic submarines. After all, that’s not everything. On a visit to the Nampo Shipyard on March 8th, Kim Jong Un also read about the advances in his work on the construction of two new frigates.
The ships are of different types. The first of them is to be used to protect the coast, and its hull was first noted in satellite photographs last year.
However, the second is the ability to carry out more severe maritime operations. While state media in the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea does not provide detailed parameters for the unit, recognized Army industry services estimate that the ship can have a displacement of 3,000 tons and be able to launch anti-aircraft and pilot missiles.
New North Korean weapons. Technology from Russia
The implementation and use of the ship’s advanced rocket systems is possible thanks to increased cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow.
The KCNA Agency has released a photo of the frigate. The hull is shown, and its structure indicates a project with reduced radar detection.

The Army’s perception was that the construction of the frigate was an “unprecedented” modernization of the North Korean fleet, which has previously focused on land and reported that the underwater forces are a priority.
“The new surface ship represents a strategic change in Pyongyang’s maritime doctrine, which aims to enhance the projection of force and defence skills,” the website emphasizes.
