North Korea has cut off a high-voltage line installed by South Korea that supplies electricity to the Kaesong industrial zone. The route has been closed since 2020, and North Korea's move is seen as symbolic.

“Since last Sunday, several North Korean soldiers have continued to remove power lines on the north side of the Gyeongui (Railway) Line (…). The South Korean military is closely monitoring the actions of the North Korean military. '' said a Seoul Ministry spokesperson. National Defense (MND).

North Korean soldiers spent several days removing the cables, cutting them into pieces and stacking them, a ministry spokesperson said. They haven't removed the power towers yet. South Korea has built 48 such structures, including 15 in the north.
The transmission line was built in 2006 and connects the border city of Munsan with North Korea's Kaesong Industrial Complex. Seoul suffered a power outage in 2020 after North Korea blew up an inter-Korean liaison office.
Korea is an “enemy country”
This is also an act aimed at destroying border infrastructure and cutting off all connections between countries. In October, North Korea blew up some roads and railroad tracks leading to South Korea. This was a symbolic act, as these routes had not been used for many years.

The operation was announced by the North Korean military on October 9th. The People's Army General Staff said at the time that North Korea intended to “completely cut off the roads and railways” connecting the country with South Korea and “contract relevant areas to our side with strong defensive positions.”
Shortly after, North Korea confirmed that it had changed its constitution. Added a clause that classifies South Korea as an “enemy country.” According to experts, inter-Korean relations are at their worst in decades.
