One of the participants was Wojciech Kopeć, a popular blogger in our country. “On Sunday, his next marathon will begin this year. This time it will be the capital of North Korea. I can’t wait. I cross my fingers and won’t come into contact with me for six days,” he wrote before leaving.
North Korea’s marathon was the first in honour of Senator Kim Ah, for the first time in six years.
The marathon is co-organized by the Corio Tour. This is the tourists organising a trip to the country’s Kim Jung-Eun. General Director Simon Cockelle has published a series of photos of the training and the marathon itself. The route passed both Pyongyang and nearby rural areas, with its finish at a stadium that housed 50,000 spectators.
According to KCTV Television, the marathon was the first to complete the runners from North Korea. However, he was not given any personal details. It was one of a series of organized events to celebrate the birthday of Kim Ah Sen, North Korea’s “eternal president” and grandfather Kim Jong Eun-na’s “eternal president.” The last such event was held in 2019 – later abandoned due to the pandemic.

North Korea opened its borders for foreign tourists in mid-February – they were able to visit the Rathon region in the north of the country. But three weeks later – without giving a reason – all trips together will be suspended, and it is not clear how DPRK tourism will take place after the marathon.
