Norwegian Cruise Line plans to launch cruises from Finland in 2026, opening up the company's new homeport.
The company said that starting in June 2026, Norwegian Sun will offer cruises from Copenhagen and, for the first time, Helsinki across the Baltic Sea. The voyages will last seven to 10 days, calling at ports in Norway, Germany, Poland, Lithuania and Sweden most days of the week.
The cruise line will include an overnight stay in Copenhagen as part of a nine-day cruise departing from Helsinki.
“At NCL, we're proud to offer our guests a variety of options for planning where they want to spend their vacation,” Norwegian Cruise Line president David J. Herrera said in a statement. “Whether they choose a seven-day voyage, a longer, immersive voyage or a cruise that starts and ends in a new destination, we'll ensure their vacation is comfortable from start to finish.”
The Norwegian ship is scheduled to sail in the Baltic Sea from June 2026 to October 2026.
Norwegian Sun was built in 2001 and was refurbished in 2021, and can accommodate 1,878 passengers. The ship has two outdoor pools and game shows such as “Deal or No Deal” and “Wheel of Fortune.”
In addition to Helsinki, Norwegian's summer 2026 European cruises will feature an impressive selection of 22-night destinations across 11 embarkation ports in 10 countries, as well as several new ports including Portree on the Isle of Skye in Scotland and Palamos in Spain.
Helsinki will not be the first new homeport Norwegian will launch in 2026. Starting in April 2026, the cruise line will set sail from Philadelphia for the first time in several years, heading to Bermuda, Canada and New England.
Norwegian was named one of this year's favorite large ocean cruise lines by Travel + Leisure readers, who reviewed everything from cabins and amenities to food, service and itineraries.
