Notre Dame is projected to land a top-10 linebacker in the 2026 class, according to projections from two inside experts.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the Irish have a 93.7% chance of landing Matthews (N.C.) Weddington four-star linebacker Thomas Davis Jr. Notre Dame insiders Mike Singer and Kyle Kelly both recorded the pick with a 60% confidence rating in favor of the Irish.
Davis is part of an elite Weddington defense that also includes four-star Ohio State defensive lineman Traijen Odom, junior four-star DL Aiden Harris and four-star EDGE Andrew Harris. Weddington is the preseason No. 1 team in the state of North Carolina and opens the season on Thursday against Charlotte Providence Day.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Davis visited South Bend in April before returning to campus in late July after the end of his recruiting hiatus.
“When I talked to him after his first visit, he said he loved the campus, the facilities and listening to Coach Freeman,” Weddington coach Andy Capone told the Blue & Gold on July 25. “Everybody just loved the atmosphere.”
Davis told the Blue & Gold after his visit that the Irish were “high on the list” in his recruiting, alongside other top schools.
Davis is the son of NFL supporter and former Georgia Bulldogs player Thomas Davis.
