NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is scheduled to visit Taiwan for the automation-focused event Intelligent Asia 2024.
NVIDIA considers Taiwan an integral part of its business and continues to be closely involved with local companies and activities.
There's been a lot of hype around “humanoid” robots lately, with companies like NVIDIA being very optimistic about the growth of this sector. We recently talked about the automation market heading towards a $50 trillion valuation, and in the midst of all of this, Team Green is once again poised to grab their fair share of the revenue, if only because they're ahead of the curve.
According to the Taiwan Economic Daily, Jensen Huang himself will be visiting Taiwan to attend the Intelligent Asia 2024 event on August 21, where he will show us what the next generation of automation will look like. It is unclear whether Team Green will be announcing anything at the event itself, but Jensen Huang's presence there will no doubt ensure that Intelligent Asia 2024 will be a highly anticipated event among enthusiasts.
Looking at NVIDIA's foray into the robotics field, one of the most promising projects is the company's “Project GR00T,” a generic foundational model for humanoid robots. It is similar to the LLM model, but is designed to train robots that can understand and respond to their environments like humans do. According to NVIDIA, this foundational model will enable the robot interface to “understand natural language and emulate human behavior by observing human actions.”
The company plans to equip its base model with the Jetson Thor SoC, which is based on the Blackwell architecture and delivers 800 teraflops of 8-bit floating-point AI performance. Therefore, the robotics segment is sure to grow even more in the future, and this is already reflected in Taiwan's stock market. Domestic companies such as Solomon have seen a significant increase in share prices, indicating that the market is certainly excited about the growth of this segment, but it is still early days.
With Jensen also in attendance, it will be interesting to see if NVIDIA announces anything at Intelligent Asia 2024, and we can expect some surprises. Given NVIDIA's close ties with Taiwanese companies, the country will no doubt play a major role in the tech giant's future.
