Prior to today's reunion announcement, rumours had been circulating that Oasis would headline Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage for the third time next summer, having previously done so in 1995 and 2004.
So what's the story?
The band has officially confirmed stadium shows as their only “European shows” for now, but has not explicitly ruled out festival appearances.
If they are to appear at Worthy Farm it will be in late June, before heading out for the first UK leg of their world tour in July.
With the Glastonbury lineup yet to be finalised and surprise appearances not uncommon, the band may be seeing this as an opportunity to redeem themselves after a poorly received headlining appearance in 2004.
In a subsequent interview, Liam Gallagher admitted he “hated” the performance, and blamed his use of in-ear monitors for ruining his cadence.
“I've always enjoyed Glastonbury. The only time I didn't enjoy it was when I wore a white jacket,” he told BBC 6 Music's Matt Everitt in 2019.
“It was not fun. It was when I first started using in-ears and it haunted me for 15 years. I hated that job.”
