Olaf Scholz has declared that he will try again to negotiate with Vladimir Putin. In November, the German chancellor met with the Russian president for the first time in almost two years. He said the conversation was “frustrating” but necessary and he would do it again.
Germany's Zeit Online reported that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is willing to continue negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Last month, Mr. Scholz had a fruitless conversation with Mr. Putin. He himself said, “It was frustrating and disappointing.'' “It was frustrating because he just kept repeating all the formulas again,” the prime minister said.
Scholz declared. He will call Putin again
Nevertheless, Scholz said the phone call was necessary to “make it clear” to President Vladimir Putin that “we cannot hope to weaken Germany's support for attacked Ukraine.”

The prime minister also reportedly stressed that the Russian president must withdraw his troops to lay the foundations for peace negotiations.
The Prime Minister therefore declared his readiness to meet with President Putin again in order to reassure him of Germany's firm support for Kiev and the achievement of peace. – It has to be done and I will do it again. But he stressed that there should be no illusions.

In mid-November, Olaf Scholz called Vladimir Putin. It was our first conversation in two years. “The conversation with President Putin showed that nothing has changed in his approach to the war against Ukraine,” Scholz said after the conversation.
