Tom Arens has experience developing and managing IT teams in Fortune 100 companies and start-ups.
Now he's joining Outdoor Cap Company (asi/75420), a Counselor Top 40 supplier, as technical director. According to executives, Allens's role will be to drive collaboration and innovation to deliver successful projects and improve the business performance of the hat manufacturing company.
“I am excited to join Outdoor Cap and contribute to a company that is not only a leader in the headwear industry, but also deeply invested in the local community and the environment,” Arends said in a statement.

A native of Arkansas, Ahrens holds degrees from the University of Arkansas and Harding University (MBA), and previously served as environmental analytics manager for Tyson Foods, chief information officer for Arcare and senior director of technology and analytics for Acorn: The Influence Company.
In a LinkedIn post, Arends said the move from his most recent role in healthcare at ARcare to a company focused on manufacturing and delivering headwear was an exciting one.
“This transition has highlighted the unique value of moving between industries – bringing fresh perspectives, adapting to new challenges and applying diverse skills in new ways,” Arends said. “One thing I've learned is that no matter where you are, the importance of hard work and the power of collaboration are universal.”
Outside of work, Arends organizes cleanups in state parks and national forests and serves on the board of directors for the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Foundation, according to Outdoor Cap.
Outdoor Cap has been on a hiring spree lately: In addition to Allens, the company recently hired former Nike sourcing leader Eddie Benford as head of product and appointed Kim Jones as head of manufacturing.
Outdoor Cap Company has been in business for more than 45 years, serving approximately 14,000 customers in areas including team sports, promotional products and retail. With reported North American promotional products revenue of $54 million in 2023, the hat manufacturer ranks 37th on Counselor's latest list of the industry's largest suppliers.
