The New England Patriots will host the Philadelphia Eagles at Gillette Stadium on Thursday in Week 2 of the preseason. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM ET (NFL Network). Below, we break down the Eagles vs. Patriots odds from FanDuel Sportsbook and give our expert NFL picks and predictions.
The Patriots, who selected quarterback Drake Maye third overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, defeated the Carolina Panthers 17-3 in their preseason opener on August 8. QB Bailey Zappe, who played in 10 games last season, completed 12 of 20 passes for a team-high 108 yards. New England allowed just 124 yards passing, but barely used any of the Panthers' starters. We'll see a bit more competition in Week 2.
The Eagles defeated the Baltimore Ravens 16-13 in Week 1. QB Kenny Pickett, who was the starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, completed 14 of 22 passes for 89 yards and one touchdown. The Eagles also had a stout defense, allowing Baltimore's backup QB only 99 total passing yards. Philadelphia first-round cornerback Quinion Mitchell played some time but did not record any tackles.

Eagles vs Patriots predictions and forecasts
prediction
Patriots 17, Eagles 13
Money Line
I'm betting on the Patriots (-140).
Unlike the Ravens when they faced the Eagles, the Patriots have a ton of talented backup quarterbacks.
Maye looked relatively competent on the drive, but the more experienced Zappe was available to fill in. The Patriots also had quarterback Joe Milton III, who scored the team's only passing touchdown, completing 4 of 6 attempts. They had three players with at least 20 rushing yards.
The Eagles had five players rush for 20 or more yards, but the passing game was less impressive, with Pickett and quarterback Tanner McKee each throwing for fewer than 89 yards. A back-to-back preseason road win will require a more dynamic performance on offense, but Pickett has yet to prove himself a particularly capable playmaker in his career.
I’ll pick Zappe over Pickett and root for the Patriots (-140).
Preventing the spread
Passed.
Given that many of the preseason games have been close field goal games and the Eagles beat the Ravens by three points on the road in Week 1, the home money line is the preferred play instead of the riskier spread.
Over/Under
Bet on less than 35.5 (-105).
Neither team produced much on offense in Week 1, and there's no real reason to expect the starters to play more than one drive in this game, with the Eagles scoring 16 points on fewer than 120 passing yards in the preseason opener.
The Patriots had 274 total yards but only completed 5 of 15 attempts on third down. They scored just 17 points in their preseason opener. Expect another poor offensive performance, so bet the under at 35.5 (-105).
