The Grow Asia Innovation Challenge, an initiative of the Food Innovation Hub of Vietnam (FIH-V), will partner with digital agrifood pioneers to revolutionize climate-resilient agriculture in Vietnam and across Southeast Asia.
Launched by Grow Asia and Beanstalk AgTech, with support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Affairs and Food (MAFRA) of the Republic of Korea, the innovation challenge seeks scalable, climate-ready solutions for smallholder farmers that will accelerate digitalization, increase the marketability of low-emission agricultural products such as rice, and establish the foundation for carbon markets that encourage participation in local carbon credit programs for sustainable agriculture.
The GrowAsia Innovation Challenge is a new initiative of Vietnam's Food Innovation Hub, which serves as a key ecosystem to mobilize innovators, scientists and international experts who are solving complex problems in value chains critical to food security. Designed by GrowAsia and the World Economic Forum and established by Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Southeast Asia's first Food Innovation Hub will serve as a catalytic platform to accelerate the transformation of the region's agriculture sector to adapt to climate challenges and move towards more profitable and sustainable value chains.
“We are excited to see the positive response to this Innovation Challenge, which has generated some high-quality, immediately scalable solutions for small farms at the heart of Vietnam's agri-food economy. Grow Asia is proud to partner with Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and its new Food Innovation Hub, and we will continue to work with WEF and the Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture Vietnam (PSAV) to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future,” said Beverly Postma, Executive Director of Grow Asia.
