It's that exciting time of year again, when we'll see who will be crowned a new Pokémon GO World Champion. The entire Pokémon GO community can join in the fun by watching the 2024 Pokémon World Championships on Twitch and YouTube from August 16-18, 2024. On the first day of the competition, Twitch viewers will receive a special code for their avatar that they can use to redeem a 2024 Worlds T-shirt.
Additionally, Pokémon GO Trainers can embody the fighting spirit of the World Championship players during Pokémon GO Battle Week, taking place from 10 a.m. on August 16, 2024 to 8 p.m. on August 24, 2024. As part of the celebration, World Championship 2024 Pikachu will make its debut in Pokémon GO, and Pokémon such as Mankey, Veronica, Marill, Paladin Awooper, Skrumony, Suiren, Fletchling, Carbink, Grubbin, and Mareen will appear more frequently in the wild when competing in the GO Battle League's Super League.
Trainers looking to build a strong competitive team should keep an eye out for event bonuses, such as up to five special trades per day and the chance to use a Special TM to take the frustration out of Shadow Pokémon's special attacks. This latter bonus is rare, so be sure to stock up on Special TMs to take advantage of this opportunity.
During the event, certain Pokémon you encounter and evolve will learn special attacks.
Licking learns the charge attack Body Slam.
Mien Phu learns the charge attack High Jump Kick.
If you evolve an Axolotl during the event period, you'll get a Quagsire that has learned the charge attack Aqua Tail.
If you evolve Swable during the event period, you will get an Altaria that knows the charge attack “Moonblast.”
If you evolve Grubin during the event period, you will get a Chachabug that has learned the Charge Attack Bolt Switch.
If you evolve Fletchinder during the event period, you'll get Talonflame, which has the quick attack “Incinerate'' learned.
Pokémon GO's 2024 Pokémon World Championships celebrations offer ample research opportunities. Completing Field Research tasks will allow you to encounter World Championship 2024 Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Mimikyu, and Madara. Paid Timed Research is available for USD 5.00 (or local equivalent). Completing the research will reward you with one Premium Battle Pass, 25,000 Stardust, and encounters with event-themed Pokémon like Azumarill, Vigoros, and Cresselia.

GO Battle Week: Shared Sky will run from 12:00 AM on August 16, 2024 to 11:59 PM on August 20, 2024 (local time). Get inspired by the world's best players and battle it out in the Super League, Ultra League, Master League, and Catch Cup: Super League Edition. The following event bonuses will be applied during the event:
4x Stardust for winning (end of set rewards not included).
The maximum number of sets that can be played per day will increase from 5 to 20 (100 battles total).
Free battle-themed timed research will be offered with rewards including a Lana-themed wig avatar item.
The Pokémon you encounter as rewards in the GO Battle League will have a greater variation in their attack power, defense power, and HP.
