BENNINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A mobile dental and vision clinic has arrived in Bennington to provide free medical care to local residents.
Remote Area Medical, a nonprofit that hosts pop-up clinics across the country, is holding a two-day clinic this weekend at Mount Anthony Union Middle School in Bennington.
All services provided by the clinic are free of charge, and patients are not required to show identification or insurance card to receive care.
Brad Sands, with the clinic, said he was approached by Bennington residents who thought there might be other people who needed medical help.
“We're invited, we're not sent anywhere on our own. There was a coalition of local residents who saw a gap in healthcare in the area and wanted to send us out. They invited us and we responded,” said Brad Sands, remote health clinic coordinator. “It's great to be able to travel and really help people. Some people have had tooth pain for three to five years. They may not be able to afford it or have the means to get it. That's where we come in. We're here to fill that gap and ease the pain and suffering.”
The clinic says it plans to treat as many people as possible on Saturday and wrap up services around noon on Sunday.
