In a text published by the Vatican, the Pope wrote about the beginning of Lent, reminding him, “He seeks conversion of his heart, leading to Easter joy.”
“Let’s be involved in it being a time of cleansing and spiritual renewal, a path to the development of faith, hope and love,” he encouraged.
The Pope turned his attention to volunteers
Francis mentioned the Mass celebrated on Sunday morning for thousands of volunteer jubilee participants organized as part of the Holy Year.
“In our society we are too subordinate to the logic of the market, where everything is threatened by the fact that we are receiving the standard of profit and the pursuit of profit. Volunteers are a sign of prophecy and hope, as they give us testimony of priority, solidarity, and the poorest service,” he emphasizes.

The Pope expressed his gratitude to all the volunteers for giving their time and capabilities.

The Pope also emphasized the importance of support from believers. “I want to thank everyone who has shown me their intimacy in my prayers. I sincerely thank them for everything. I pray for you too.”
Pope’s appeal for world peace
Francis assured him that he was spiritually involved with those taking part in the retreat of Romaculia from Sunday.
“We recall the gift of peace, especially in weary Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Burma, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.”

“I learn with concern about the resumption of violence in some Syria zones. I want them to end with full respect for all ethnic and religious parts of Syria, especially civilians,” he appealed.
The Pope wrote: I will leave everything you can to intercession with Mary’s motherhood. “Let’s meet up with a good Sunday,” he concluded.
Pope accepted guests at the hospital
The Pope also welcomed guests on Sunday. He met with the secretary of the holy land who saw the Holy Cardinal Pietro Parolin and his vice archbishop Edgar Pena Para.
