The difference in winning percentage between the two reporters is 3. New reporter Jake Olsen is optimistic that the Cougars can exceed preseason expectations. Prior to entering the Big 12 last season, BYU often exceeded expectations in wins. Notable results in Jake's table include wins over Kansas State and Utah, two schools that are Big 12 championship favorites.
My (Calvin's) predictions are less optimistic because I think the Cougars could have a losing streak following their road game in Waco. Back-to-back games against Arizona, Oklahoma State, UCSF, Utah, and Kansas look tough right now, but if things go BYU's way, the Cougars could pull off upset wins against Arizona, UCSF, and even rival Utah.
While nothing is certain, we're always rooting for a 12-0 season. The best part about playing in the Big 12 is that almost every week is a must-watch game for a fan base that's accustomed to watching mid-season games against the likes of East Carolina, San Jose State and Fresno State. Even if the Cougs enter the game against Utah 0-8 (which is simply not acceptable), fans will still be putting Rice-Eccles in blue as many times as possible.
Stand up and get excited! The BYU football game is about to begin!
